In 1975, Joe and Sylvia Taylor gave 86 acres of The Taylor River Side Farm as a conservation easement to the New Jersey Natural Lands Trust so that a wildlife refuge could be created. Since then, the public has been welcome to walk it’s trails and enjoy the myriad of bird and wildlife along the shores of the Delaware River and the marsh on the land.
The Friends of Taylor Wildlife Preserve was created in 1975 with 31 members of the Taylor family. There is a wider membership today, and the organization works hard at maintaining the 1.5 mile loop trail for walkers to enjoy. The trails are available to enjoy from dawn until dusk.
